Taken Cycles Launches from Boise, Idaho with a Purpose-Built Enduro/DH Frame Engineered for Riders Who Refuse to Compromise
Industry veterans Jeremy and Rhiannon McGlathery introduce The Encounter — featuring Chris Canfield’s CBF suspension with i-track technology — available direct to consumer beginning mid-May 2026.
BOISE, Idaho, May 2026 — Taken Cycles, a new mountain bike company rooted in the trails and community of Boise, Idaho, today announced its founding and the upcoming release of its debut frame, The Encounter. Co-founded by Jeremy and Rhiannon McGlathery — longtime industry professionals with backgrounds as mechanics, trail builders, and co-owners of a local bike shop — Taken Cycles enters the market with a clear point of view: long-travel bikes should pedal as well as they descend.
Joining the McGlatherys as co-owners are Matt and Laura Mundy, long-time friends who bring expertise in research and development, marketing, and community engagement. Together, the four founders share a deep investment in Boise’s riding culture and the broader mountain bike community.
Introducing The Encounter
The Encounter is an enduro/downhill frame engineered around a single guiding principle: maximum pedal efficiency on the climb without sacrificing the composure and confidence that define a truly capable descending machine. It is designed for riders who spend as much time thinking about the ride up as the ride down.
To realize that vision, Jeremy partnered with renowned suspension designer Chris Canfield to incorporate the highly regarded CBF (Canfield Balance Formula) suspension system. The Encounter features a high pivot design with i-track — a patented mountain bike suspension system built around a dynamic, moving idler pulley mounted on a separate linkage rather than the main frame.
This floating idler design enables a rearward axle path that absorbs impacts more effectively, while simultaneously reducing suspension bob (anti-squat) and minimizing pedal kickback. The result is a platform that climbs with intent and descends with authority.
“Having ridden longer travel bikes for decades, I wanted something that felt composed on chatter, super fun to ride at high speeds, and could also pedal effectively.”
— Jeremy McGlathery, Co-Founder, Taken Cycles
Availability and Sales
The Encounter will be released in small batches beginning June 2026. All sales will be conducted direct to consumers through the Taken Cycles website, and the bike will be sold as a frame + shock only. The Taken team has worked to collaborate with established suspension companies such as Push and EXT to create custom tunes that will elevate the riding experience. To support customers who want a complete bike build, Taken is working to develop a preferred builder network of local bike shops who are familiar with the bike.
